Factorio is an interesting indie game in which you have to build all kinds of structures (mostly factories, hence the name of the game), maintain them, upgrade them, and eventually defend them against enemy creatures.
It’s a quite original strategy game that compensates for the rather lackluster visuals with considerable gameplay complexity. In other words, Factorio can get addictive quite easily despite initially looking rather dull.
Though Factorio is also only in its Alpha stage, it’s already pretty complex. You don’t only build the structures that ensure your game progress, but you also have to mine resources for them (minerals, oil, etc.), provide them with required fuel and energy, invest in research and upgrades, develop infrastructure and automate the production, etc. An even more interesting part starts when the native creatures come to attack you because your buildings caused too much pollution, and now you also have to be concerned about military options (walls, turrets, defense robots and so on).
The game is also moddable, comes with a custom map editor, and offers a cool, challenging single player mode.
To sum it all up, though Factorio is still in its development stages, it surely looks promising and already has a loyal fanbase.
